IPD-IMGT/HLA and IPD-KIR ISO Standard Object Identifiers

The IPD-IMGT/HLA and IPD-KIR Databases have added ISO standard HL7 Registered IDs.

The IPD-IMGT/HLA and IPD-KIR Databases allows you to retrieve information upon a specific HLA or KIR allele as named in the WHO Nomenclature Committee for Factors of the HLA System or the KIR Nomenclature Committee. All HLA alleles and antigen specificities have now received ISO standard HL7 Registered IDs. All KIR alleles have received ISO standard HL7 registered IDs. The HL7 designations use the following syntax:

DesignationDescription
2.16.840.1.113883.13.252HL7 Registered Organisational OID
.1Gene System ID, i.e. 1 for HLA, 2 for KIR
.1Resolution Level i.e. 1 for allele level, 2 for antigen level [other resolutions are been investigated for example G-group designations, and may be added later]
.1Allele ID, i.e.The IPD-IMGT/HLA or IPD-KIR Database accession number with the HLA/KIR and leading zeroes removed. For example HLA-A*01:01:01:01 this would be 1, as the accession number is HLA00001, KIR2DL1*0030202 would be 294 as the accession number is KIR00294

Details of the IPD-IMGT/HLA and IPD-KIR HL7 OID Organisational entry can be found at;

Example HLA OIDs are listed below;

  • HLA-A*01:01:01:01 (HLA00001) is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.1.1.1
  • HLA-B*15:01:01:01 (HLA00162) is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.1.1.162
  • HLA-C*04:09N (HLA01451) is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.1.1.1451
  • The serologically recognised HLA specificity A1 is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.1.2.1
  • The serologically recognised HLA specificity Bw4 is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.1.2.89
  • The serologically recognised HLA specificity DR51 is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.1.2.148

Example KIR OIDs are listed below;

  • KIR2DL1*0010101 (KIR00001) is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.2.1.1
  • KIR2DL1*0030202 (KIR00294) is assigned the OID 2.16.840.1.113883.13.252.2.1.294

The allele level ISO OIDs are listed in the allele reference pages of the IPD-IMGT/HLA Database and are be searchable using the Allele Query Tool and API

Tables for all OIDs are available from the IPD-IMGT/HLA GitHub repository.
