Capra

Welcome to the IPD-MHC CLA page. The purpose of this page is to gather allelic polymorphisms of caprine leukocyte antigen (CLA) loci within the MHC of all domesticated, feral and wild goat (Capra hircus) breeds, providing a definitive source of information on the caprine major histocompatibility complex. This project is supported by the comparative MHC nomenclature committee of the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG) and the Veterinary Immunology Committee (VIC) of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS).

Nomenclature

The nomenclature guidelines presented here were proposed at the ISAG/IUIS-VIC/Comparative MHC nomenclature committee meeting in September 2005. These guidelines are reproduced in Ellis et al. (2006) with updates provided in Ballingall et al (2018) and Maccari et al (2018). A nomenclature guideline for acceptance of new sequences for allele name assignment is available.
