Cell Query Help Page
The IPD-IMGT/HLA Database allows you to retrieve information about a specific IPD cells. The Cell Query API has two entry points. This page documents the web based user interface. For information about the REST API please see our REST API help page. For information regarding what fields are available to be queried and their description please see our Cell list Fields documentation.
The Cell Query tool provides a web based user interface for building custom queries to the IPD-IMGT/HLA Database. It has the following query options:
- Cell Name Query - Quickly query cell names, aliases and IPD Cell IDs
- Advanced Query - Construct custom queries for all fields in the database
- Field Select - Select specific fields to incude in results without including them in a query
Cell Name Query
The Cell Name Query tab allows simple queries on the Cell Name, Aliases and IPD cell IDs.
Below is a worked example:
This example queries the database for the cell name OLGA.
Advanced Query
The Advanced Query tab allows for the construction of custom queries to the database. First a field is selected from the dropdown. For a list of available fields and their meaning please see Cell list Fields documentation. If relevant an operator can then be selected from a dropdown. Lastly a user input for the query is required which depending on the field can be text, date or selected from a drop down. Multiple fields can be selected for a single query and can be joined by either an "and", "or" or "nor" connectors. These fields can also be grouped to perform larger more complex queries.
Below is a worked example:
This example queries the database for cells which caucasoid ethnicity and have HLA-A typing of 01 and HLA-B typing of 07.
Field Select
The Display Fields tab allows users to select additional fields to display that are not being queried. These fields are selected from a dropdown and the currently displayed fields are presented below. The field select tab can be used in combination with either the Advanced Query tab or the Cell Name Query tab.
Below is a worked example:
This example performs an Advanced Query to the database for the workshop cells. It then additionally displays the HLA-A, HLA-B and HLA-DRB1 cell typings.
